MAXIM provides highly competitive and affordable rates for FUT procedures. Additionally, we extend a 0% financing option for up to 24 months. Pricing depends on factors such as the number of grafts and the type of procedure, and it may vary depending on the location.

The FUT procedure typically takes 6 to 8 hours and is performed in a clinic setting. Procedure duration varies based on factors such as the type of procedure, the number of grafts, hair curvature, patient discomfort tolerance, adherence to pre-operative instructions, medical history, and other considerations. During this time, patients have the flexibility to take bathroom and meal breaks.

FUT procedures are performed under local anesthesia. Feel free to unwind, enjoy a film, take a nap, or chat with our experts as they perform their expertise. Our goal is to establish a serene atmosphere, ensuring you feel relaxed and at ease throughout the entire procedure.

During FUT hair transplant surgery, the surgeon removes a strip of skin from the back or side of your head (donor area), extracting individual hair follicles. These follicles are dissected into individual grafts and subsequently implanted into the areas of your scalp experiencing hair loss. Each graft consists of 1 to 3 hair follicles, also known as micro grafts, and the procedure is sometimes referred to as micro-follicular hair transplantation. When hair transplants were first performed, each graft consisted of 5 to 10 hair follicles and were referred to as Plugs. They had the appearance of doll hair and were very obvious as transplanted hair to the naked eye. This is no longer the case with micro and mini hair grafting. Surgical hair restoration is now a natural, permanent and affordable procedure. The FUT procedure is established, proven and considered a work horse, particularly for those who desire MEGA sessions up to 4,000 grafts and a dense, fuller result.

To prepare for FUT surgery, we recommend no alcohol 48 hours prior and no Vitamin E for 7 days preceding your hair transplant. Your doctor will advise you regarding any blood thinners or other medications. A good night's sleep and rest prior to your procedure is essential. A light breakfast on the morning of your hair replacement surgery is required. Our Hair Transplant surgeon/clinician will perform a pre-op evaluation and informed consent. Medical clearance may be required for clients over 65 as well as those with a history of hypertension and cardiac issues. Written pre-op and post-op instructions are provided. At least one follow-up visit is mandatory.

Advantages

FUT can offer a number of advantages for the proper candidate.

FUT is a good procedure for those who have already undergone a prior FUT Hair Transplant. Our surgeon can revise the old scar rather than creating a new one. It is also ideal for those with limited donor tissue but need a large number of grafts.

FUT is a great alternative if you don't want to shave your head as FUT doesn't necessitate shaving the donor area as with other procedures.

Unlike FUE, transection of harvested follicular units is not a concern or risk with FUT. Therefore, the success rate and graft survival with FUT has historically been higher compared to FUE. However, with advancements in FUE Technology, the gap between the two techniques has closed.

Our experienced clinicians have a 95%+ success rate for FUT hair transplants. We measure the success rate by looking at the results about a year after the process, as it's natural for the transplants to fall out before new, full, natural, and permanent hair growth takes place.

Last but not least, FUT results in a higher density compared to FUE, thereby maximizing hair volume. Grafts are exceptionally robust and offer a higher-than-average survival rate. If you want a fuller head of thick, beautiful hair, FUT might be ideal for you.

When performed by an experienced hair transplant surgeon, FUT is still a viable hair transplant procedure, particularly for those who are good candidates for it.

Frequently Asked Questions

FUT stands for Follicular Unit Transplantation. It is a surgical hair restoration procedure wherein a strip of hair is taken from the scalp at the back and sides of the head called the donor area and transplanted to the thinning and balding areas affected by hair loss.

Due to its complex and surgical nature, FUT is performed by highly trained and experienced hair transplant surgeons that are assisted by skilled and experienced hair transplant technicians.

In a clinical setting, a single FUT session usually lasts for 6 to 9 hours. A largeer session can take longer.

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT), also called the strip method, involves harvesting a strip of hair and skin tissue from the donor area. This is usually located at the back of the head and is sutured and concealed with the remnant hair after the procedure.

The strip of hair and tissue is then meticulously dissected in individual hair grafts. Each hair graft consists of one to three hair follicles (micro grafts) or three to five hair follicles (mini grafts). These are then transplanted to the area of the scalp (recipient area) that is suffering from hair loss.

FUT is the ideal hair transplant procedure for patients who are suffering from severe hair loss and need a large number of grafts to achieve the desired result. Not only can the procedure be done more quickly it can also deliver a much higher yield and density as our doctors can extract more grafts during a single session.

At MAXIM Hair Restoration, we offer MEGA hair transplant sessions where 3,000 to 4,000 hair grafts can be transplanted during a single session! This type of session creates a thick and fuller finished result.
