PDO Overview

PDO stands for polydioxanone threads. They're a proven method for hair restoration. A clinician inserts the threads into carefully chosen dermal pockets near the hair follicles. The PDOs remain in the scalp for six months, improving hair growth by increasing blood flow and tissue oxygenation to scalp tissues. PDO threads also stimulate the creation of collagen, which in turn creates keratin, the protein which forms your hair.  PDO can slow or even stop hair loss and can target specific areas of your scalp where hair loss may be occurring. If you catch your hair loss early enough, PDO may be the non-surgical solution which allows you to avoid more aggressive therapies like FUE or FUT.

PDO Benefits

Increase hair regrowth from an average of 65 to 93 hair follicles per centimeter with this minimally invasive, non-surgical procedure. In many cases clients who try PDO can slow, stop, or reverse hair loss, which means they can avoid more aggressive surgical treatment methods. PDO can also be part of a broader hybrid solution that combines therapies to bring you the results you're looking for.

PDO Candidates

To be a good candidate for PDO you must still have hair follicles in the affected area. PDO can strengthen existing hair follicles but can't create new ones. It's a great therapy for mild hair thinning and for weak hair. If you're in the early stages of hair loss, ask us if PDO is right for you.

PDO Preparation

We use a topical anesthetic to ensure you don't feel any discomfort during the PDO procedure. Meanwhile, we draw a bit of your blood and process it through a centrifuge. This allows us to create a high-concentrate of growth factors out of your own blood. These growth factors are then injected into your scalp. PDO threading happens next. The threads will constantly stimulate your scalp to promote hair growth for up to 8 months post treatment.

PDO Regimens

Some individuals will see the results they desire after a single treatment. Others will need to repeat the process every six months. Speak to your clinician about whether you will need multiple treatments or whether a single treatment will suffice.

PDO Costs

PDO is one of the more affordable hair restoration procedures. We can make it even more affordable by offering 0%, 12-month financing.

SLOW OR STOP HAIR LOSS

PDO threading can help you slow or even stop hair loss. If you are in the early stages of hair loss and notice that your hair is thinning or weakening but has yet to fall out then PDO might be the right solution for you.

NON-INVASIVE

PDO threading is non-surgical and non-invasive. There is no scarring. There are no major side effects. You won't need weeks of recovery time. You can be in and out of our office in an afternoon.

SAFE

PDO threading offers very few side effects. Most people mention a heavy feeling on their head, similar to the feeling you might get when you wear a thick hat. Some people experience a little pain or discomfort that can be treated with over-the-counter pain relievers.

AFFORDABLE

PDO threading is one of the most cost-effective hair restoration treatments that we offer. Contact us to get a quote, and ask us about 0% financing if necessary. As you start to notice your hair has grown stronger and thicker the renewed confidence in your appearance will pay for itself.

frequently asked questions

PDO stands for polydioxanone. PDO threads are a synthetic monofilament suture that are inserted near your hair follicles. They constantly provide the scalp with low-level irritation similar to the irritation you'd see in a microneedling procedure, stimulating the production of collagen and keratin that causes hair to regrow. Over time, the sutures dissolve. You can think of PDO as a way to trick your scalp into loading up with oxygen, fibroblasts, nutrients, hyaluronic acid, elastin, and other natural substances that encourage your hair to grow.

The client must be in good health and must still have hair follicles to work with. PDO is great for hair that is thinning, going brittle, or weakening. It isn't helpful for individuals who have already lost hair in a specific area. Ask us about PDO if you are in the earliest stages of hair loss.

Most of our clients see results within one to four sessions. While the threads can remain in place for six to eight months, we see exceptional results by replacing them every four to six months. Every client is different, so ask us for your personalized schedule.

For the most part, PDO threads are painless. We apply a topical anestetic before we begin the work. Some clients experience a mild headache directly after the procedure, as well as some redness, swelling, and bruising that generally goes away after a day or so. Most discomfort may be treated with over-the-counter pain relievers.
