SMP Overview

Scalp micropigmentation is a non-surgical procedure. We use a tiny series of needles to achieve two ends. First, we're creating a permanent tattoo with medical-grade pigments. The tattoo mimics real hair and is often indistinguishable from real hair. We can use it to give a man a neat, clean "buzz cut" look, or to carefully fill in small patches of lost hair. Second, we're creating tiny puncture wounds. Your natural healing processes take over, activating hair follicles, increasing blood flow to the area, promoting collagen production, and stimulating hair growth. This can "jump start" a man's natural hair growth. You can grow your own hair without harming the micropigmentation tattoos, either choosing to buzz your natural hair and letting the pigmentation fill in the blanks or allowing your hair to grow longer, using the micropigmentation to help conceal thin spots.

Medical Grade Pigments

We use the finest medical grade pigments to give you incredible results. Our inks are long-lasting, non-toxic, and safe to use. We offer multiple colors for multiple skin tones. These are tattoo pigments especially created for SMP procedures.

SMP Advantages

SMP is excellent at creating natural-looking results without surgery. We can finish the procedure very quickly, and requires very little in the way of after-care and recovery. It's a safe, effective, and proven solution to permanent hair loss. It costs less than FUE and FUT procedures. There's no scarring and no fussing. The results look realistic and are virtually indistinguishable from natural hair.

SMP Anesthesia

We use local anesthesia to help you manage your pain. Most people don't feel more than a light bit of pressure throughout the entire process. You can read or listen to a podcast while we complete the procedure, or just sit back, relax, and think. It will take very little of your attention!

SMP Results

SMP offers long-lasting results. The SMP pigment should retain its color and strength for four to eight years. You can schedule an enhancement procedure as often as you need to in order to address fading. Scalp micropigmentation is hassle-free, requiring minimal maintenance.

SMP Costs

SMP is one of the most affordable and effective hair restoration solutions on the market today. We make it easier to afford your procedure by offering packaged pricing for two to three sessions. frequently asked questions

SMP stands for scalp micropigmentation. Also called scalp tattoo or hair tattoo, scalp micropigmentation is an aesthetic procedure used to conceal hair loss. However, because of its versatility, SMP is also used for non-cosmetic purposes such as the concealment of scars from accidents or previous hair transplants. Traditionally, scars were revised surgically through a procedure also known as scar revision or scar repair.

SMP is a non-invasive procedure that involves depositing a combination of natural medical-grade pigments that are deposited into the scalp using microneedles creating the appearance of hair follicles. Through SMP, patients suffering from hair loss can achieve a buzz cut look. They can also have their receding hairlines restored painlessly and almost instantly.

Patients will need to schedule an initial appointment to discuss with our experts what they want to achieve through the SMP procedure. During this initial consultation, MAXIM Hair Restoration specialists will manage the client's expectations and explain the risks and benefits associated with SMP.

At MAXIM Hair Restoration, clients can be rest assured that only our top-caliber SMP specialists and professionals handle our SMP procedures. They are highly trained and experienced with hundreds of cases under their belts. They will work with you in assessing the extent of the procedure and how many sessions are needed to get the job done. During the procedure, they use sophisticated, state-of-the-art 3D scalp micropigmentation to efficiently and realistically replicate human hair.

SMP has several advantages over hair transplant procedures including:

  1. Non-invasive. Unlike hair transplant procedures such as FUE and FUT, SMP is non-invasive and is similar to getting a tattoo. That is why SMP is ideal for those who shy away from hair transplant surgery or those who can't afford time off work for a post-op recovery period.

  2. No Medication. Aside from a topical numbing agent used during the session, no other medication is required for this non-invasive procedure.

Proven Effective. Why read about it? Take a look for yourself. Check out pre- and post-op pictures of satisfied clients after their SMP procedure

A full SMP procedure usually consists of several sessions spread over a period of 4 to 6 weeks. Each session lasts one to two hours each.

Although relatively painless, a topical numbing agent is applied on the scalp to ease the patient's discomfort during the SMP procedure.

You can stay awake during the entire procedure and can engage in activities like reading, listening to music, and others, while our SMP specialist works on your head.

Depending on the amount of work needed to be done, a full SMP procedure usually consists of 2 to 3 sessions, each of which lasting no more than two hours.

Although the entire procedure is low-risk, MAXIM Hair Restoration prioritizes patient safety above all else. A set of specific guidelines is given to clients which explain  everything they need to know about the procedure and how to prepare for it.

Before each treatment, the scalp should be washed thoroughly as you will not be able to wash the affected area three to four days after the procedure. In some cases, our SMP specialists would request that the area be exfoliated or the patient's hair be shaved or cropped to achieve maximum efficacy.

As mentioned earlier, scalp micropigmentation is a relatively low-maintenance procedure that only has a bare minimum of post-op requirements not dissimilar from getting an ordinary tattoo:

  1. Don't get wet. Avoid getting your scalp wet several days after your session. That means, no showers, no swimming, no saunas.

  2. Stay away from direct sunlight. For 28 days after your session, direct sunlight should be avoided. An SPF 30 to 50 sunblock will be needed after. Remember, the more exposed your tattoo is, the easier it will fade.

  3. Avoid strenuous activities. For five days after your session, you should avoid working out, performing difficult chores, and other heavy activities.

  4. Regularly moisturize. Doing so would slow down the fading process and delay retouches.

Clients are reminded that SMP is NOT a hair restoration treatment. Hair that has been lost cannot be recovered through SMP. SMP is a versatile cosmetic procedure that camouflages lost hair.

As mentioned earlier, SMP is a low-risk procedure. There is virtually no chance of a complication. Our experts would guide and discuss each step of the process and ensure that you are comfortable with what's going to happen before it happens again.

SMP is more affordable compared with hair transplants. At MAXIM Hair Restoration, we offer packaged pricing for two or three sessions until the result you desire is achieved. In addition, 0% financing is also available in our clinics in the U.S. Call or contact us now and schedule a free consultation here[Q3]  to know more.
